Roaming brings together visited-network radio access, home-network subscriber context, emergency service identity, location delivery and cross-border operational expectations. The user expectation is simple: 112 should work. The engineering reality is not simple.
What it does
Emergency roaming covers how callers expect 112 to work when they are outside their home network or country.
Roaming emergency support is essential for travelers and border regions across Europe.
How it works
- The visited network must recognize and support emergency access.
- Location should describe where the caller actually is, not where their home account lives.
- Routing must deliver the call to the emergency service responsible for the visited location.
