VoNR emergency support is a moving target across devices, networks and roaming environments. It should be discussed as part of 5G emergency readiness, not as a universally available European capability.
What it does
VoNR emergency calling addresses emergency sessions in 5G standalone environments using IMS.
VoNR may become a major mobile emergency access path as 5G standalone networks mature.
How it works
- The device attempts emergency service over 5G standalone access.
- IMS procedures and operator policy determine routing and fallback.
- Interworking to LTE or other access may be needed where support is incomplete.
