112 readiness
Policy, location, routing, and response quality connected in one operational model.

Testing and Interoperability
Conformance, interoperability and end-to-end validation are different. Conformance checks behavior against a specification. Interoperability checks whether independent implementations work together. End-to-end validation checks whether the caller-to-PSAP path behaves correctly in real scenarios.
What it does
Testing proves whether specifications, independent implementations and the full emergency path actually work.
Testing turns NG112 architecture from a diagram into operational evidence.
How it works
- Runs protocol tests for interfaces such as SIP, PIDF-LO, HELD and routing behavior.
- Exercises multi-vendor paths and PSAP workflows.
- Validates location, media, failover, roaming and degraded-mode scenarios.
Key interfaces and protocols
- ETSI TS 103 480
- ETSI Plugtests
- SIP traces
- Location validation
- PSAP operational tests
Systems it interacts with
- ESRP
- ECRF
- SIP
- PIDF-LO
- RTT
- Resilience
Common failure modes
- Lab conformance passes but live PSAP workflow fails.
- Testing ignores roaming or fallback.
- Location is syntactically valid but operationally useless.
- Vendors test only their own happy path.
Implementation considerations
- Build acceptance tests around real incidents and edge cases.
- Keep packet traces, screenshots and call-taker observations.
- Retest after software, GIS and routing changes.
Standards
- ETSI TS 103 480
